Renovation and expansion of a House in Boavista
The idea was to design a new image and a new perimeter for the existing volume.
The project is not only restricted to work within the "old house”, but it proposes a new contemporary light volume (parallelepiped), something that "breaks" in part with the general environment.
Despite this dissonance, we keep the memories by maintaining the exterior walls, which will be visible from the street (depth given by the matter).
Between this new corporeal limit and the existing volume, there is a patio that characterises the entry to the house; another patio ("winter") enhances the Interior.
The skin, whose areas are external to the face, consists of 3 layers:
1- the foundation, the white concrete (a mass for the contact with the land);
2- on the top, the glass (the lightness for the “contact” with the heaven).
