Scholar Centre in Gafanha da Boa-Hora (3rd prize)

Concept - Friendly Hand
We propose a concept of a high representative and symbolic power to the specific program.
The design is born with reference to one of the possible works that will be taught at the Scholar Centre, the impression of a hand.
In a first stage, the process consists on painting the palm of the hand with ink; right after we put the palm of the hand in a support (usually a sheet of paper); finally, after the hand has been removed, as a final result it appears the impression of the hand on the paper.
Maintaining the same configuration of the hand, the relationship between the palm and the fingers, we have developed a distortion in order to originate a shape that is adaptable to the site – an identical representation was thought by Le Corbusier in Chandigarth, India; ou even by Eduardo Chillida in San Sebastian, Spain.
